How To Get Free Advertising By Using Craigslist
If you are involved in a home business or selling on the web you should consider using Craigslist to get free advertising. Also use it as and alternative to eBay because it is free and you avoid the eBay fees.
Craigslist offers you opportunities that you cannot get with the search engines. For you to effectively use the search engines you have to use pay per click advertising because of the heavy competition and the search engine guidelines that prevent you from getting to the top of the search engines.
But with Craigslist you can advertise locally as well as internationally and get free advertising. It will bring people to your web site, your online store and bring you local customers.
You will find that most people who buy on the web like to by offline and they like to buy local. So if you're selling anything from salt lamps to Polish pottery or Christmas ornaments you can get free advertising on Craigslist and you can establish local customers that will buy from you repeatedly.
How To Use Craigslist
The process of advertising on Craigslist is quite simple. First go to the Craigslist and create an account.
Once you create your account is just a matter of writing your advertisements.
You can add pictures in your post when you sell in the "For Sale" section. This is highly recommended. To make your advertisements more attractive, just use a digital camera and take a picture of that which you are selling in your own local setting .
Commercial posts are only accepted by Craigslist under the "Services" section. Be sure to advertise there.
But also advertise in the "For Sale" section. Place an advertisement for an individual piece. Don't make it sound commercial. Get the customer to call you.
If you can, add a picture the product that you made. And in an advertisement put a telephone number. You can use your own local telephone number or you can do what we do and that is to get a Skype business telephone number with a voice mail program. It is extremely cheap and it allows you to make extremely cheap phone calls. You can get information about that at this link.
The idea is for you to advertise one or more products in the "For Sale" section and get the customers to call you or visit you. You can sell them what you advertised and establish them as a customer for future sales of other products.
Here is an example:
Suppose you are selling Polish pottery or amber jewelry. You advertise a single item in the "For Sale" section. When the customer buys from you, you now have a contact to which you can offer other products and services. You can tell the customer that you have other products for sale or refer the customer to your web site to see what else you have to sell.
Craigslist limits the number of advertisements that have similar wording in order to prevent spam. So advertise different products in different regions on different days and you will be able to get up several advertisements that should draw customers for you.
Here are some limitations that are buried in the terms of service that you should read
You cannot post advertisements:
k) that constitutes or contains "affiliate marketing," "link referral code," "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or unsolicited commercial advertisement;
